Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton!
As we aspire to keep Jesus at the center of our lives, we are Rooted in Faith, and Growing in Love. We endeavor to be a welcoming and affirming community of grace for all people, loving our neighbors because God first loved us.

“When your world unravels and your beliefs are tested, you may cling to what you know. As Jesus foretells his death and resurrection, Peter protests. Peter is fixed upon the way he thinks things should go; he resists the pain of what will come. But Jesus is fixed upon his calling.”  (A Sanctified Art · sanctifiedart.org)

Our Lenten theme, Wandering Heart · Figuring out Faith with Peter draws inspiration from the hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and focuses on stories of the disciple Peter. On this fourth Sunday of Lent, March 10, we will reflect on the line “fixed upon it” and read the interaction between Jesus and Peter recorded in Matthew 16:21-23. The image for today features the musical symbol of a fermata, which indicates a prolonged note or pause. In the midst of this wandering Lenten journey, where is your faith fixed? Where have you paused and focused your attention?
