Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton!
a welcoming and affirming community of grace for all people
Rooted in Faith and Growing in Love
April 17, 2022 · 10:45 am · Easter Sunday
Throughout the weeks of Lent, we have filled the vessels on the altar table with reminders of the ways in which God fills us with abundant grace:
with sand, because God fills us to the brim even in the desert.
with feathers, because we find shelter under God’s wings.
with leaves, because we are worthy even when we do not produce fruit.
with party decorations, because God celebrates all who come home to God.
with water, because even in the face of death, there is beauty in acts of love,
such as Mary’s anointing of Jesus.
with palm branches, remembering the shouts of praise welcoming Jesus to
Jerusalem, just days before his betrayal and death.Today, we celebrate the expansive life which the resurrection of Jesus offers us.
May we be filled to the brim with this gift of life.
Rev. Jennifer Rygg will lead the Easter Greeting and Welcome and the Responsive Call to Worship. Lesa Chandler will read Luke 24:1-12. Dale Chandler will give the Offertory Prayer. Rev. Jennifer Rygg will preach the sermon “Full to the Brim…an Expansive Life.” The Song of Praise will be “O Praise the Name (Anastasis).” Rev. Chris Cottingham and Richard Reynolds Huss will play a piano/organ duet of “The Great I AM” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will lead the anthem “Behold the Lamb.” Richard Reynolds Huss will play “Hallelujah” from “Messiah” for the Postlude.

CHILDREN’S WORSHIP RESOURCES
Our Lenten worship materials, Full to the Brim, include an affirmation and an art prompt for children each week. The affirmation will be part of the children’s sermon during the worship service.
This week’s affirmation is: I am hopeful.
Art prompt: Create a sunrise scene to remind you to be hopeful. What details in your scene remind you of hope?
