February 25, 2024 · 10:45 am · Second Sunday of Lent

The featured image comes from our Lenten theme, Wandering Heart · Figuring out Faith with Peter.  The theme draws inspiration from the hymn “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and focuses on stories of the disciple Peter. The meandering path depicts the non-linear nature of our faith journeys.
On this second Sunday of Lent, February 25, we will hear the story of Peter walking on water in Matthew 14:22-33 and reflect on the line “Rescue me from danger” from the hymn. The waves icon reminds us of Peter stepping out in faith on the choppy waters and being rescued by Jesus.

The Call to Worship will be “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Rev. Chris Cottingham will read Psalm 22:23-31. The Hymn of Praise will be “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” Suzanne Morse will read Matthew 14:22-33. The Reflection through Music will be “Goodness of God.” The Offertory Hymn will be “On Eagle’s Wings.” Suzanne Morse will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “Be Not Afraid.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Faith for Choppy Waters.” The Hymn of Response will be “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.”
