December 8, 2024 · 10:45 am · Second Sunday of Advent
Each week of Advent, one of our adult Sunday School classes will serve as lay worship leaders. This week, the Co-Ed C Class is leading in worship. Taught by Cheryl Patterson, Jim Davis, and Sue Baldwin, the Co-Ed C Class uses the Formations curriculum from Smyth & Helwys Publishing. Co-Ed C meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in Conference Room 304.
The Call to Worship will be “Of the Father’s Love Begotten.” We will sing the carol “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus.” The Co-Ed C Sunday School Class will light the Advent Candles and read Leviticus 2:13, 2 Chronicles 13:5, Mark 9:50, and Colossians 4:2-6. They will then lead the Passing of the Peace. We will sing the carol “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.” The Co-Ed C Sunday School Class will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “He Shall Feed His Flock” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “The Nativity Carol.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Salt in Yourselves.” The Hymn of Response will be “View the Present Through the Promise.” At the end of worship today our Called Church Conference of Dec 4 will be called out of recess to vote on the proposed 2025 Ministry Plan (Budget), as amended on December 4, 2024 at the Called Church Conference.
