Summer Sermon Series: Called In
If someone disagrees with our words or actions, they may call us out – challenging us, possibly in a way that feels shaming and critical.
Another approach would be for someone to call us IN – to invite us, through conversation and relationship, to consider a better way.
This summer sermon series, Called In, invites us to reflect on how God uses our mistakes, weaknesses, and experiences to help us grow.
Our text for June 22 will be 2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14, “Called to Connection.”
Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will give the Welcome and Invocation. The Call to Worship will be “It Is Well With My Soul.” Rev. Chris Cottingham will lead the Passing of the Peace. The Song of Praise will be “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Suzanne Morse will read 2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14. The Offertory Hymn will be “We Are Called to Be God’s People.” Suzanne Morse will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss and Rev. Chris Cottingham will play a duet of “Here I Am, Lord” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “How Beautiful.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the reflection “Called to Connection.” We will ordain four Deacons: Jane Huss, Hayden Maxey, Heather Mullinax, and Cindy Still. The Hymn of Response will be “The Servant Song.”
