What is Christian Faith? What does it mean to live faithfully? What are the key elements of a faithful life? The last few chapters of the book of Hebrews offer a summary of the essentials of Christian faith.This Sunday, August 24, the sermon is entitled “Faith is Mountains and Valleys” and will draw from the Scripture text Hebrews 12:18-29. Through the ups and downs of our lives, Christian faith offers something upon which we can rely. In the midst of the uncertainties of this world, God’s faithful presence is steadfast.
Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will give the Welcome and Invocation. The Call to Worship will be Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will lead the Passing of the Peace. The Song of Praise will be “How Firm a Foundation.” Ian Coulter will read Psalm 71:1-6. The Offertory Hymn will be “The Solid Rock.” Ian Coulter will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “For the Beauty of the Earth” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “There Is a Balm in Gilead.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Faith is Mountains and Valleys,” incorporating Hebrews 12:18-29. The Hymn of Response will be “He Leadeth Me! O Blessed Thought.”
