The past five months didn’t look quite like I was expecting, but God can do big and mighty things in the unexpected circumstances of our lives if we let Him. Nothing ever surprises God, not even COVID-19. My time in Townsville, Queensland, Australia meant more to me than I can even begin to explain.

While I didn’t end up getting to go to Papua New Guinea, I still learned so much and was able to serve the community of Townsville in so many ways. I spent most of my time down in 99.9 Live FM which is a radio station located on the YWAM base. The station has 26,000 listeners a month and reaches across Northern Queensland. I had an announcing slot from 6-9 pm weekdays, I helped with their social media and helped with content. I learned so much about radio and I loved how involved the station is with the community. I was able to connect with the community of Townsville in a way that would have never happened if we had gone on outreach in Papua New Guinea.

Over the past 5 months, I have made friends from all over the world, built a deeper relationship with my Heavenly Father, found healing and restoration, and I learned so much about God and who He is as our Father.

Corona stopped us from going to Papua New Guinea to do missions, but we had a mission field of our own in Townsville. We participated in weekly prayer walks around Townsville, praying over buildings and talking with the locals. During a time of so much uncertainty and being isolated from others, it was so nice to be able to give a word of encouragement or pray for someone (at a safe distance of course).

Over the past 5 months, I have made friends from all over the world, built a deeper relationship with my Heavenly Father, found healing and restoration, and I learned so much about God and who He is as our Father. I could talk for days about this experience, so you’ll just have to tune in to Wednesday night Bible study on August 19 if you want to hear more about my trip!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and prayed for me during my time in Australia! Your love and prayers were felt all the way in the land down under!
