Rooted in Faith and Growing in Love
April 24, 2022 · 10:45 am · Second Sunday of Easter
A lot changed in three days, from Jesus’ death to his resurrection, and his disciples are not quite sure what to make of it all. This week we meet two disciples on the road to Emmaus. As they begin their journey, they are dejected and confused, lamenting, “we had hoped…” It seems that their hope is no more. But just a few miles down the road, they excitedly share that their hearts are on fire. Jesus really is risen, and their hope has been resurrected too.
How might our hope be resurrected? How can we move from empty hopes to burning hearts?
Hayden Maxey will read Luke 24:13-35. Diana Parson will give the Offertory Prayer. Max Loyd will lead “Uncloudy Day” on banjo. Rev. Jennifer Rygg will preach the sermon “Hope Resurrected.” The Hymn of Response will be “We Are Travelers on a Journey.”
