Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton
As we aspire to keep Jesus at the center of our lives, we are Rooted in Faith, and Growing in Love. We endeavor to be a welcoming and affirming community of grace for all people, loving our neighbors because God first loved us.

August 25, 2024 · 10:45 am · Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

The theme of our late summer sermon series is “Soul Food.” The themes of food and table fellowship occur frequently in Scripture. These texts offer us spiritual nourishment using examples from that which physically nourishes us.

The Call to Worship will be “For the Bread Which You Have Broken.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will lead the Passing of the Peace. The Hymns of Praise will be “My Jesus, I Love Thee,” “Ancient Words,” and “I Love You, Lord.” Jean Robinson will read John 6:56-69. The Offertory Hymn will be “Jesus Is Lord of All.” Jean Robinson will give the Offertory Prayer and lead The Lord’s Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “We Praise You With Our Minds, O Lord” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “Lamb of God.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Hard to Swallow.” The Hymn of Response will be “We Are God’s People.”
