Today is the Second Sunday of Advent. Our Advent worship theme is “What do you fear? Insisting on hope this Advent.”
Today we will celebrate Communion. If you are worshipping from home, you may want to gather Communion elements.
Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will give the Welcome. The Call to Worship will be “Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne.” The Bolding Family will light two Advent Candles and lead the Passing of the Peace. The Carol of Peace will be “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.” Rev. Chris Cottingham will pray the Prayer for Illumination. Suzanne Morse will read Isaiah 43:19-21 and Matthew 11:1-11. The Offertory Carol will be “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear.” Suzanne Morse will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “There’s a Voice in the Wilderness Crying” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “Creation Will Be at Peace.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will give the Communion Reflection “From Fear to Peace,” and will then give the Prayer of Thanksgiving and lead The Lord’s Prayer. We will celebrate Communion. The Hymn of Response will be “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” The church will enter a Called Church Conference to vote on the 2026 Ministry Plan (Budget & Finance). Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will give the Pastoral Benediction.
