Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton
As we aspire to keep Jesus at the center of our lives, we are Rooted in Faith, and Growing in Love. We endeavor to be a welcoming and affirming community of grace for all people, loving our neighbors because God first loved us.
January 12, 2025 · 10:45 am · Baptism of the Lord
During the season of Epiphany, our sermon series, Living with Joy, invites us to consider how we can live with purpose and joy in our everyday lives. Stories of the early ministry of Jesus, along with Old Testament texts, remind us that joy can be found in our lives, regardless of external circumstances. This joy sustains us through hardships and gives our lives deeper meaning.
The Call to Worship will be “Meditation.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will lead the Passing of the Peace. The Hymn of Praise will be “All Creatures of Our God and King.” Ted Thomas will read Isaiah 43:1-7. The Offertory Hymn will be “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” Ted Thomas will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “I Sing the Mighty Power of God” for the Offertory. Rev. Chris Cottingham will read Luke 3:15-22. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “Be Not Afraid.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “An Identity of Joy.” The Hymn of Response will be “The Servant Song.”
