Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton
As we aspire to keep Jesus at the center of our lives, we are Rooted in Faith, and Growing in Love. We endeavor to be a welcoming and affirming community of grace for all people, loving our neighbors because God first loved us.
January 4, 2026 · 10:45 am · Second Sunday after Christmas ∙ Epiphany
On the first Sunday of the New Year, we will observe Epiphany, remembering the story of the Magi’s journey. We will also receive Star Words, or Star Gifts, an Epiphany tradition in which each person receives a word that is meant to guide them toward Christ, much like the Magi were guided by a star.
Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will give the Welcome. The Call to Worship will be “What is This Lovely Fragrance?” Chris Cottingham will lead the Passing of the Peace. The Song of Praise will be “We Three Kings.” Kiley Daniel will read Matthew 2:1-12. The Offertory Hymn will be “In the Bleak Midwinter.” Chris Cottingham will give the Offertory Prayer. Richard Reynolds Huss will play “What Star Is This, With Beams So Bright” for the Offertory. The Sanctuary Choir will sing “Your Light Has Come.” Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Fear Doesn’t Stop Us.” The Hymn of Response will be “As With Gladness Men of Old.”
