Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton!
Rooted in Faith and Growing in Love

March 20, 2022 · 10:45 am · Third Sunday of Lent

We continue our Lenten theme, Full to the Brim, reflecting on how God provides what we need to grow and flourish. Perhaps at times we find ourselves discouraged, in seasons of unfruitfulness. Today’s text, Jesus’ parable of the fig tree, may seem to be a word of criticism for those seasons of unfruitfulness. But parables offer different ways of looking at things. Today’s sermon will explore some different angles of this story, revealing a word of grace for those of us who may identify with that fruitless tree.

Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Full to the Brim…You Are Worthy” based on Luke 13:1-9. Rev. Chris Cottingham will read Luke 13:6-9. Joela Jimenez will give the Offertory Prayer. The Offertory Hymn will be “Christ Our Hope in Life and Death.” The Sanctuary Choir will sing ‘Here I Am, Lord.” The Hymn of Response will be “Speak to My Heart.” The Postlude will be “I Bind Unto Myself Today.”

CHILDREN’S WORSHIP RESOURCES
Our Lenten worship materials, Full to the Brim, include an affirmation and an art prompt for children each week. The affirmation will be part of the children’s sermon during the worship service.

This week’s affirmation is I am worthy.
Art prompt: Create a tree to remember that you are worthy and loved, no matter what kind of gifts you share. What gifts does your tree share with the world?
