Welcome to First Baptist Church of Pendleton!
Rooted in Faith and Growing in Love

March 13, 2022 · 10:45 am · Second Sunday of Lent

Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg will preach the sermon “Full to the Brim…Under God’s Wing,” based on Luke 13:31-35. Jim and Esther Davis will read Psalm 36:7-9, 27:1-6, 63:5-7. Jim Davis will give the Offertory Prayer. The Offertory Hymn will be “On Eagle’s Wings.” Guest musician Tammy Gladson will lead music today, and will sing two solos — “Jesus Is the Song” and “Jerusalem.” The Hymn of Response will be “I Love to Tell the Story.”
Our Lenten theme, Full to the Brim, continues to invite us to reflect on the ways God fills us with abundant grace. This week, images from Scripture remind us of the protection and comfort we find “Under God’s Wing.” In God, we find safety and shelter from the storms of life. God’s love and protection fill us to the brim. We will also add to our Lenten altar arrangement, filling one of the empty vessels with an item relevant to this week’s theme. May God fill us to the brim – under God’s wing.

CHILDREN’S WORSHIP RESOURCES
Our Lenten worship materials, Full to the Brim, include an affirmation and an art prompt for children each week. The affirmation will be part of the children’s sermon during the worship service.

This week’s affirmation is I am safe with God.

Art prompt: Create a hen to remember how God is like a mother. You might also add yourself as a chick under the hen’s wing. How does the chick represent you?
